Water Stones

Hiking in the mountains is where I find much inspiration. I incorporated an image I took of stones below a flowing mountain stream. There is a transparent crackle layer over the stones that represents the times of drought the stream experiences, and the other aspects of the composition represent tree branches and aspen leaves. The painting has dozens of acrylic layers to mimic the look of encaustic. I developed an entire book based on these ideas.
