Stormy Sunday

This piece is a moody landscape inspired work but really my teaching lesson on this piece was on how to use pastes, mix colors and add layers in order to create a feeling. It began as complete abstraction but as I turned and rotated the piece while working, I saw a mountain and forest landscape emerge. These are my favorite landscapes because they just hint at a certain place yet the provide a strong mood and story that you can insert yourself into. Where is this place for you? You may have a particular reaction to storms, but here in the Southern Rockies, storm clouds are a welcome event where they bring relieve from the normally dry weather.
