Santa Fe Sunset in Paris

When painting on top of gold leaf, the metal captures and reflects the colors. Sunsets are perfect for painting on gold leaf with intense translucent paints. I had just returned from teaching a painting course in France while sailing on the Seine. We witnessed some stunning sunsets and sunrises while on the river. When I returned home to Santa Fe, I witnessed a luminous sunset while painting this piece for my exhibition in Paris. I love it when inspiration and nature come together.
