Sands of Time

Sands of Time, a 12” x 12” mixed-media painting, was inspired by my experience teaching art in Morocco. It reflects the desert sands, camel rides, and the vivid displays of spices and minerals in the souks. Created with gold and silver leaf, collage, and Venetian plaster, the piece mirrors the shifting nature of sand. I build up layers, burnish them with a stone, and remove portions of plaster before giving the surface a final burnish and sealing it.
