Celebrate the Changes

I love the changing of the seasons, especially the equinox. Autumn is my favorite season and not just because it’s my birthday, but I love the dramatic sense of endings and new beginnings. I get that feeling more with this season than any other and I love to honor nature with a ceremony to welcome the change. The leaves are changing, the garden is preparing for her winter sleep and my focus becomes more inward. I feel my muse and hear the whispers of my soul calling to me to nurture myself, and this year I am listening and doing just that.
Today I am on my way to Paris for a wonderful 4 days and then we are off to western France where I am participating in a 2-week artist residency at Chateau Orquevaux. I am not teaching on this trip, but I am looking for folks to join me in Greece next year. Pampering myself with the luxury of only creating for two weeks is enriched because we are working on a collaborative art installation in the forest. It isn’t a commercial project, just something to fill my soul and nurture my muse. It also helps that the place is stunning, like out of a storybook and that they feed us every meal. I mean really, this is celebrating, nurturing and honoring the changes that life offers.
I plan to document the development and stages of installation over on Instagram so come see me there. We did an artist residency last year in southern Italy and I am still processing the experience. Taking time for yourself to honor the changes can be as simple as writing in your journal, lighting a candle and enjoying a long soak with a good book. A ritual I have always done is writing what I want to let go off on a piece of paper and then burning it and scattering the ashes. Do this carefully so as not to start any fires. I then do a short meditation and open myself to what I want to welcome into my life in the coming months. You may even want to make a vision board to help you focus on your dreams and desires. I encourage you to experience the gift of travel and creating. It will change your life. The next international art retreat I am having is to Greece in May 2025. Take a look at the amazing place where we will spend a week with our muse and rewrite your prevailing personal myth and welcome the changes you want to embrace. Find out more here. Embrace the changes!
