Layers of Life II

This piece is truly a mixed media creation. There is a cast acrylic panel inserted into the wood panel. I made the imagery on the cast acrylic by shooting an image through oil and water and then did an image transfer onto the acrylic panel. Silver leaf is put onto the back of the transferred image and more circles are added on top. The layers are built up with various plasters and it feels like wax even though it is all acrylic. The painting may also be hung vertically and paired with others in the series.

This piece was made as part of a triptych. It may hang vertically as a solo piece or in the grouping.
