Connections

Hiking through the mountain trails inspires my mixed media art as well as researching scientific concepts. When I can bring the two together and experiment with new processes, it is bliss. This piece called Connections does all of that. The overhead tree branches weaving their limbs together remind me also of the root systems of the plants, the rivers and streams, the neural networks of the brain and basically all of existence. Everything is connected.

This piece is made from several layers of cast acrylic painted on both sides and fused together with resin. There is incredible depth in the work, and it may hang either vertical or horizontal.
